The role I play for you at ELDC
Full Council
There are 60 Councillors on East Lindsey District Council and we meet to decide the Council’s overall policies.
Planning Committee
I am privileged to be a member of this Committee. I am very aware that decisions made by the Planning Committee can have a profound effect on residents’ lives. I always try to make well informed decisions that I can justify.
Planning Policy Committee
I am currently Vice Chairman of this committee. Planning policy nationally is currently in a process of change and it is vital that communities participate in this review. The Conservative Coalition government will be introducing the Localism Bill that seeks to involve local communities in the planning process. The Bill will enable communities to produce meaningful local plans that will shape and protect local valued environments. This does not mean that communities will be able to say no to all development. There will still be national and regional strategic housing targets but communities like Woodhall Spa will be able to influence the quality of design and issues such as density and highlight the impact on local infrastructure of further housing development.
I am very aware of how local planning issues affect residents and I actively encourage Parish councils in my Ward to participate in the planning process.
Horncastle Area Committee
I am Vice Chairman of this committee and together with the chairman Cllr Sandra Campbell- Wardman we are endeavouring to make this committee more relevant and informative for residents. If you would like an issue that affects you discussed at this committee please contact your local Parish Clerk to find out about the Area Committee meetings or contact me direct.
My community interests continue and I actively support:
- St Andrew’s C of E Primary School (formerly Chair of Governors) and Kirkby on Bain Primary School
- Community groups including the Coronation Hall Trust, Guides, Woodhall Spa Cricket Club, Woodhall Wizards Children’s Centre
- Annual events such as the Woodhall 10k run
- Britain in Bloom
