My Background
As residents of Woodhall for the past 23 years my family and I have benefited greatly from living in such a wonderful community. We value the quality of life that Woodhall Spa and its surroundings have given us. Our children have attended good schools and enjoyed excellent sporting facilities and access to many community groups that have enriched their lives.
Our daughter is currently attending Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and our son is in his final year at Leeds University after attending Gartree Community College and Lincoln College. My wife, Lorraine, is a trading and community engagement officer for Age Concern Lindsey. My brother and I run VOC Antiques in Woodhall Spa, a business that was first established in 1977 by my late father.
Being involved in a local family business I am mindful of the importance of ensuring the future economic well being of this ward, not only for this generation of residents but future ones too. This is an issue that has increased significance in the current economic climate and I am very sensitive to how decisions made at ELDC impact on residents.
I have been fortunate to serve as a Governor at St Andrew's C of E Primary school for over 10 years, serving as Chairman of Governors for the last 3 of those years. I stepped down in January 2008 after a very successful Ofsted Inspection.
I am pleased to be currently involved in the Friends of Jubilee Park and the Jubilee Park Steering Group. As you will be aware there is now the possibility that Jubilee Park will be managed by a community Trust. As a District Councillor I am very supportive of this venture and will be working hard to make it succeed.
Away from work and the council I enjoy cycling, playing tennis badly, walking our Cocker Spaniel and fishing (both coarse and fly). We enjoy socialising with family and friends and watching our children grow up, scary as that is!
